About

I learned this thelong way round.

Over ten years as a yoga teacher and practitioner, and a qualified hypnotherapist, but none of it was the plan. Everything I teach, I first needed myself.

I don't think anyone should have to fall apart to find this work. But I did, and it means I recognise the look on someone's face when they arrive holding far too much.

The story

From a salon chair to a yoga mat.

I was working in a busy London hair salon when I had a life-changing epileptic episode. It took the job with it. I couldn't drive and I couldn't cut hair, and the career I'd built simply stopped being available to me.

I found yoga looking for something, anything, that would help me feel steadier in my own body. It was never meant to become a career. It became one anyway, and then it became something closer to a calling.

Alongside the yoga, I started seeing a hypnotherapist to bring down the chronic stress, and with it, the seizures. The effect was profound.

It worked so well that I couldn't leave it there. I trained, and kept training, so that I could offer other people the thing that had given me my life back. That's the whole origin of this practice: not a business plan, a debt I'm still happily repaying.

Since then I've studied with Rod Stryker, Doug Keller and Uma Dinsmore-Tuli: teachers who root everything in traditional wisdom, mindful movement, breathwork and deep awareness. My hypnotherapy practice is mentored by an experienced psychotherapist specialising in addiction, which has taught me more about behaviour and change than any manual could.

What people say about my teaching, more than anything, is that I can feel a room. I take that as the highest compliment available. Warm, dynamic and deeply supportive is what I'm aiming for, and I firmly believe humour is medicine. Laughter has a real role in healing, and there is always room for it here.

Off the mat

Two busy boys, cold water, and the odd open mic.

When I'm not holding space for other people, I'm usually being mum to two boys who do not observe savasana. What spare time survives that goes on cold water and, every so often, having a go at stand-up comedy.

I mention it because it's relevant. This work isn't about becoming serene and unreachable. It's about having enough left in you for the loud, funny, freezing, ordinary parts of a life.

Client reflections

What it's like to work with me.

Candace is a wonderfully kind practitioner who offered me so much compassion during our sessions. She blends the two worlds of hypnotherapy and yoga nidra together so beautifully, and offers something niche but truly needed in the wellness space. I would always leave our sessions feeling deeply rested, with a subtle air of peace that I certainly didn't have beforehand. Thank you Candace for working your magic on me.

You hold space so beautifully and authentically and I felt safe to go deep. The somatics provoked a wonderfully emotional release. I had tears streaming down my cheeks at one stage. The nidra was so special, I managed to find that beautiful realm between sleep and wake which I've often struggled to find.

I suffered a big T trauma before Christmas and I truly believe your session yesterday supported the healing I'm trying to find. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
